Hey Y’all! Hope you all had a great weekend. I feel like John and I did ALL the things this weekend! (Anyone else have a crazy productive weekend?!) After cleaning, organizing, meal prepping, and shooting two new projects for the blog – we somehow even had time to swing into our new favorite store, Philanthropy, over in Market Street – The Woodlands. If you live in The Woods, you gotta go check it out!
As much as I love color, black and white outfits are one of my favorite go-to looks. There is something chic about black and white and the way they contrast one another. Pairing these two classic colors is almost foolproof. Whenever I am in a pinch, my go to is always a classic black and white look. Not to mention, black and white looks great on just about everyone! Today, I am teaming up with Cakewalk Style Shop in Market Street The Woodlands to bring you this on trend yet classic black and white outfit.
Spring is finally here y’all! Today I’m talking all about some of favorite pieces for transitioning into this warmer season, perfect for those days when it’s warm and cool all in the same 12 hours. Of course, in Houston, those days are a bit rare (those are the days you will find everyone in the city sitting outside on a restaurant patio hoping the amazing weather never ends)!
Being a parent is not a job that you can just take a break from or put on pause. It’s a continuous tug of war between wanting to get your kids to bed at night as fast as possible so that you can relax and watch the show that you’ve been dying to watch on the DVR and wanting them to wake up from their nap so you can play with them outside. It’s the battle of wanting them to be a little more independent so that they can entertain themselves, and scrolling through old pictures on your phone remembering how helpless (and chunky) they were and wishing time would stand still. Yep. Being a parent is a full time, all in, can’t stop won’t stop job that’s easy to get swept away in.
I am a person who ALWAYS has a to-do list a mile long. I tend to run until I am so burnt out that I either get a cold or am so mentally and physically exhausted that I just stop everything! (Hence – the lack of posts in the last two weeks.) I completely over-extended myself and it caught up with me big time last week. It has taken me so long to realize this and it won’t be easy for me to implement, but I am working on giving myself permission to slow down!
Spring is just around the corner and I can’t wait for parties on the patio, kids running around outside and fresh air. As I type this our weather went from 85 to 60 within 24 hours. Luckily, we will be back up to 80 and sunshine by Friday. As a busy mom, one of the easiest pieces of clothing to pull on and look presentable is a maxi dress. If I could, I would have a closet filled with them! Maxi dresses are ususally acceptable at work if you wear a cardigan or jacket. Add a long necklace, short necklace or layered necklaces for a statement. I add a wedge if I am headed to dinner or a party. No party or dinner, throw on those flip flops or flat sandals! The possibilities are endless when it comes to spring maxi dresses.
You guys!! I am SO excited to announce that I am a Market Street Ambassador for the year of 2017! For those of you who don’t know, my family and I live in the The Woodlands, TX, which is a suburb of Houston. I grew up near this area, but moved into the city when I got married. We recently moved back out here about 5 months ago, and we are loving it!
Is anyone else out there dreaming of a pina colada on the beach while reading a good book? About this time of year I get a hankering for a little tropical vay cay. Last year we went to Grand Cayman and I wish I had taken more flowy lightweight dresses. This navy stunner from Elaine Turner, with it’s neon accents and tassel detailing is perfect for your tropical getaway. I love that this dress can easily be taken from the pool to dinner. Trade out your beach tote for this adorable clutch and switch your flip flops to sandals. Don’t tell my husband, but I also came home with the cobalt blue dress linked below! It was too gorgeous to pass up.
For your man, the next few weeks may seem bitter sweet. Yes, we are all looking forward to the biggest football game of the year BUT that means after next Sunday, it’s all over until August. My husband and I are sending the season off with a bang not only by having the biggest game day spread we’ve ever had but by taking part in local festivities leading up to the big game. Being that the game of all games is in my home town (Houston, Texas baby!) There is so much to do in the city! It’s basically one big celebratory tailgate from downtown, to uptown, to NASA, to The Woodlands! In the spirit of our city-wide tailgate I wanted to share this super easy DIY perfect for tailgate hopping and share an exciting event that is sure to get you excited for the Big Game!
One of our goals for 2017 is to have a monthly date night! This can’t just be a spur of the moment dinner or a let’s rent a movie ( though don’t get me wrong, I love a good pizza and Netflix kinda night!) We both felt it was important to actually plan a nice date for each other. We decided in December that we would rotate month’s and the other person would be in charge of planning out the date. January was my month to plan, so I chose Jasper’s in Market Street – The Woodlands! ( I set the bar high, so that he had to plan something spectacular for February, aka my birthday month haha!)
